I want to wait for a deeper pullback, like a 50 percent pullback before entering. Any tips on when to get in early and when to wait?<br \/>\n <em>Video duration: 2min 30sec<\/em><\/p>\n<div style='position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%'><iframe class='sproutvideo-player' src='\/\/videos.sproutvideo.com\/embed\/d49adfbb1318e7c75c\/7e975734f09484b4?playerTheme=dark&amp;playerColor=' style='position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0;top:0' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"caption\">You can also view this video on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/HS2okxA1TQ0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al&#8217;s YouTube Channel<\/a> if needed.<\/p>\n<h3>When to enter pullbacks<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-1-300x254.png\" alt=\"Ask Al Brooks When Enter Pullbacks ES Chart\" width=\"300\" height=\"254\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-52730\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-1-300x254.png 300w, https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-1-600x508.png 600w, https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-1.png 701w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>One of the things that I really enjoy about trading is that it is so subjective, but that\u2019s also one of the things that makes it really frustrating for traders.\u00a0 Everyone wants rules.\u00a0 \u201cDo this, you make money.\u00a0 Do that, you make money.\u201d\u00a0 And if you think about it, rules are impossible because if there\u2019s a rule, then it\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/ask-al\/perfect-trade-setups\/\" target=\"_blank\">perfect trade<\/a>.\u00a0 You do it and you make money, right?\u00a0 However, there has to be an institution taking the other side of the trade, and it\u2019s not going to take long for the institution to realize that every time they take that particular trade, they lose money and you make money.\u00a0 So they\u2019re going to stop doing it, and all of a sudden you\u2019re going to stop making money.\u00a0 And that makes everything constantly subjective.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In general, I think a trader starting out should not be buying with limit orders even easy trades, like 58 &#8212; 58 low.\u00a0 Really high probability that there\u2019d be buyers below.\u00a0 What\u2019s high probability?\u00a0 70 percent, 80 percent; really high probability.\u00a0 Not necessarily within one or two bars, but certainly within four or five bars chances are, there\u2019d be buyers below here [B58] before the market gets below here [B57]or below here [B56].<\/p>\n<h3>Strong breakouts<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-2-300x252.png\" alt=\"Ask Al Brooks When Enter Pullbacks ES Chart 2\" width=\"300\" height=\"252\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-52732\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-2-300x252.png 300w, https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-2-600x505.png 600w, https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/ask-al-57-when-enter-pullbacks-es-chart-2.png 701w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>So if you\u2019re ever going to buy with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/video\/play\/stop-order-vs-limit-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">limit order<\/a> in a bull breakout, the only time you should consider it, is on the very first reversal up after a strong breakout.\u00a0 And then beyond that, if you have a weaker trend, like in here [B6-B12], then you\u2019re expecting a lot of two-sided trading so you\u2019re expecting deeper pullbacks. This is the kind of environment where traders would consider entering on 50 percent pullbacks.\u00a0 So rally here and guess what?\u00a0 Traders bought the 50 percent pullback.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sell off here but within a trading range, so what do you think happened?\u00a0 Bears sold the 50 percent pullback, right? \u00a0\u00a0That just happens all the time.\u00a0 So the more two-sided the market is, the more likely pullbacks will be deep and the more likely traders will be looking to wait for 50 percent pullbacks.\u00a0 The stronger a trend is, the more likely pullbacks will be small and traders will not wait around for 50 percent pullbacks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Al Brooks<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Al Brooks&#039; trading room\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brookstradingcourse.com\/online-day-trading-room\/\">Information on Al&#8217;s Online day trading room<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Entering pullbacks BPA trading room Q&amp;A: March 18, 2015 Question: I have trouble working out when to enter on a pullback directly above or below the prior bar, or one point above or below.
