This increased the odds of buyers below.

So far, the bulls have managed to get a head on the daily chart and are really above yesterday’s high.

The bulls are hopeful that today will form a strong reversal bar closing on its high. This would increase the odds of buyers below and at least a small 2nd leg up.

The bears are doing a good job adding to the selling pressure on the daily chart. However, the bears need to start closing below the moving average. This would be a sign that the bears are beginning to gain control of the market.

At the moment, the bulls have more than 20 bars above the moving average on the daily RTH chart. This means that if the bears can initiate a reversal, the odds will favor a trading range rather than a bear trend.

Emini 5-minute chart and what to expect today

The open of the U.S. Session gapped up and rallied from a bull trend from the open.

The rally up to bar 12 has been strong and increases the odds of a trading range or a bull trend day, and not a bear trend day.

The rally on the open is climactic, which increases the odds of a trading range lasting several hours.

The market may have gone up too fast. This increases the risk of bulls becoming exhausted, and the market remains sideways for several hours.

The other problem that the bulls have is that the market is far away from the moving average. This increases the odds of the market going sideways or down and getting closer to the average price (the moving average).

While the rally is good for the bulls, it is not what traders want to see if they are hoping for a bull trend lasting into the close.

Trends that last all day act more like small pullback trends that continue to grind their way up with frequent sideways trading. They typically form as bull legs in what appear to be trading ranges that begin to form open gaps.

This causes the scale in bears to get trapped and forced to buy back their shorts.

Yesterday’s Emini setups

Richard created the SP500 Emini chart – Al travelling.

Here are reasonable stop entry setups from yesterday. Buyers of both the Brooks Trading Course and Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns have access to a near 4-year library of more detailed explanations of swing trade setups (see Online Course/BTC Daily Setups). Encyclopedia members get current daily charts added to Encyclopedia.

My goal with these charts is to present an Always In perspective. If a trader was trying to be Always In or nearly Always In a position all day, and he was not currently in the market, these entries would be logical times for him to enter. These therefore are swing entries.

It is important to understand that most swing setups do not lead to swing trades. As soon as traders are disappointed, many exit. Those who exit prefer to get out with a small profit (scalp), but often have to exit with a small loss.

If the risk is too big for your account, you should wait for trades with less risk or trade an alternative market like the Micro Emini.

Summary of today’s S&P Emini price action

Richard created the SP500 Emini chart – Al travelling.

Emini end of day video review

Periodic end of day review videos will be moved to top of page when done.

See the weekly update for a discussion of the price action on the weekly chart and for what to expect going into next week.

Trading Room

Al Brooks and other presenters talk about the detailed Emini price action real-time each day in the Brooks Price Action trading room.
