Ola, hope everyone is doing well.
If you could list 1 favorite book, (other than Dr Brooks's books of course.. we love all of them), that has helped you in your trading journey, what would it be? Only 1 book.. so it has to be your real love 😀 If you can add how it has helped you, that would be good too.
I'll start..
Mastery - by Robert Greene - It has helped me stay on track and kept going, knowing that the long and sometimes/often hard journey is normal and something we have to go through to reach our goals..
Best Regards,
Andrew
Trading in the Zone by Mark Douglas. A classic 🙂
Thanks Jean!
Another vote for Best Loser Wins. Technical analysis will only take you so far. If you don't have the mindset needed for trading, you will lose. This book tackles that aspect of it very effectively!
I really liked Market Wizards. I wasn't a huge fan of Trading in the Zone. It just felt very boring to me. Best Loser Wins was good. I have "Way of the Turtle" which is supposed to be good but i haven't started it yet.
Here they are if anyone wants them. Only posting these because they're not related to actual price action concepts. Al's books is the only i go to for those.
I'd say Mastering the Mental Game of Trading by Steven Goldstein. Loved it! Discusses the Performance Process Cycle and how one must go through 4 stages to avoid short circuiting the cycle and going into a "trader's death spiral".
Nice, thanks for sharing, David! Will check this one out!
Great idea! I'm subbed, lol.... The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday. Check that one out if you haven't. Holiday is 1 of the best Authors out there. Love his books
Thanks Paul! Will check that out! 🙂
Also check out Best Loser Wins by Hougaard. I liked it much better than Trading in the Zone believe it or not... I'd love for Al to write a book on just phsychology. I'm sure it would be FIRE! 🍻
Thanks Paul!
The Obstacle Is The Way isn't necessarily a trading book but it does relate to trading a lot, like Mastery... I also liked Marcel Link's book, think its called High Probability Trading
Which of among these 3 are your favorite, Paul? 🙂
Too hard to pick bro! Read all of them! I read 48 Laws of Power and loved that book, I'm going to start Mastery soon, I've had it for a while, got it on sale on Kindle a while back for $4. Robert Greene is 1 of my favorite Authors too
I've downloaded Best Loser Wins on Audible.. will start on it soon.. 🙂
Enjoy Mastery! I love anything by Robert Greene..
Hey Chris, thank you very much for your list, and the books!
Have a great week ahead! I liked the Market Wizards books too.. now have them on audible so can listen to them in the gym..
Take care!
Campaign Trading: Tactics and Strategies to Exploit the Markets by John Sweeney
Street Smarts by Linda Bradford Raschke and Laurence A. Connors
Way of the Turtle by Curtis M. Faith
The Three Point Reversal Method of Point & Figure Stock Trading by A.W. Cohen (no longer published but the pdf is on Scribd)
The Logical Trader by Mark Fisher (opening range breakout, I've also read a lot of Toby Crabel stuff)
I come from a mechanical trading style but more of a hybrid now, using Al's stuff for context.
Thanks for the list Greg!
The title says it all.
It will be difficult for many to grasp initially some of the aspects (kind of like much of Al's material). That is why Peter actually separates the book into 2 sequences: The "short version" and "the long version".
Real deal.
Thanks Eric, this looks like a similar genre to the Mastery book by Robert Greene.. will check it out, thanks!
"Better Grades Less Effort" Make sure you leave enough time after you study for some form of active recall to facilitate long term memory storage. Being of member of the greatest trading program won't do much if one has terrible study habits, and contrary to popular belief, just grinding away at study all day is a terrible study habit.
Ola Marcus.. Agreed.. there needs to be an incubation period for he ideas to grow in our minds.. thanks for the book!
