I trade the E-mini on the 5 minute chart, and I wonder how today's market has changed compared to when the video course was made.
Dr Brooks makes a few statements in his video course but I understand that the value of the E-mini has changed so much since the videos were made that some typical measurements might be different today.
For example, he talks about a typical scalp being a minimum of 1 point. He talks about seeing 20 2 point scalps and 40 1 point scalps on a chart. He talks about how beginners can try to catch one good 4 point swing per day and how that objective is very realistic.
I'm especially interested in the last statement, about a good realistic objective for 1 good swing per day, on average. Would he still say 4 points today in 2025? Or would he say 8 points, 10 points?
He also talks about many of the people he knows being able to consistently be very good at pulling 10-20 points from the market every day, on average. I'm not sure in what year this was but would this be a different statement in 2025?
If anyone can help, thanks in advance!
In outlining the course, references are made so that as markets change, the mechanisms adopt as well through measurement. On the 5 minute chart today, a 5 point target is reasonable for a scalp as that is the average bar size. Therefore 10 points is a short swing and a 4x swing target would be 20 points.
If you review many days, it is often possible for swing targets to reach up to 20 points.
With experience, a reasonable daily target might be 1/2 of a days range.
Hopefully helpful and good trades to you!
Thanks Eric!
