I recently heard Joseph Imbornone touting this course during his end of day review of the S&P emini. In fact, he has been pushing it a lot lately, which is why I am curious. The company is headed by Ali Moin Afshari where Brad Wolff is one of the coaches. To my knowledge, neither of these guys were able to trade successfully until they learned price action from Al Brooks. I just assume they are now trading successful, but I really have no way to verify this. Logic tells me they are not, or if they are, they really don't make much money doing it. Hence the full time job teaching others to trade using Brooks price action methods. No doubt Ali has spent a considerable amount of man hours constructing his course which consists of videos, books, and other study aids which most likely is just repackaged Brooks Price Action. Price for his course ranges from $15,500 to $19,500 for one year. I think this is where the real money is. Why else would you devout so much time to it, if you could make more money trading in that same amount of time. I think the answer is, he can't. Joseph Imbornone mentioned that he took the course after studying Brooks price action for around 4 years. After graduating from Ali's Systems Academy course (a years long course), he still can't trade, but continues to believes in the course. The other day, he pointed out a trade that he took, in fact he said it was the only trade he took all day. He described shorting the first touch of the moving average in a bull tread. Since this is a trade that even a novice knows to stay away from, I have to question his Systems Academy education. Joseph mentioned that a big part of the course is them teaching or coaching you to develop and trade "your" system. I assume that "system" means trade setups and management styles, hence the name Systems Academy. I am perplexed as to why anyone would pay this kind of money to have another guy teach you how to trade "your" system. For this kind of money, shouldn't they present you with a tried and proven money making system, and then train you to use "their" system successfully? Personally, I would rather save my money and learn from Al Brooks, the same as these guys did. Al has a wealth of information on his websites, books, and course videos to keep you busy. You can also purchase his archived trading room videos. $200 gets a years worth of trading room videos taught by the master himself, and you can get them going all the way back to 2010! I always viewed Al Brooks as a guy who made a lot of money trading, and then decided to give back by opening a type of charity teaching others to trade. I call it a charity because of the ridiculously low prices he charges in comparison to others. Can anyone one tell me where I might be wrong or has anyone become successful after graduating from Systems Academy? I would love to hear other viewpoints.
I totally agree with your comments. Al is promoting and educating people on Price Action Trading at a affordable price, such that more people will understand price action, whether they will use it or not I believe this will be beneficial to them.
Where these expensive course seems only for more wealthy people that can afford it. I don't think this will promote Price Action Trading. And as Ali said there is no guarantee and but you are the one walking it.
Hi Brian,
Your questions above are all very valid concerns. I know who better to address the above discussion than myself.
So why was Systems Academy born, and what is the purpose of it? Systems Academy is actually several years old. Ali built the program many years ago back when he was interested in starting a Hedge fund in Canada. Ali's most significant question was how to take someone and teach them how to trade profitably in as short as possible. To have a successful hedge fund, you need proficient traders. They do not have to be world-class traders like Al Brooks, but they at least need to be good traders.
Ali has a background as a computer consultant and IT infrastructure designer. Therefore, he has been hardwired to think from a systems design mindset. Systems Academy was, in part, the very way he taught himself how to trade, by taking all of the Brooks Price Action methodology and testing it for himself.
An excellent discretionary trader like Al Brooks is like a Rolls Royce. They are custom-built, extremely expensive, and take a very long time to trade. A Systematic trader is like a BWM. It is still a nice car, but it is a factory-assembled car that is much cheaper to make and can be built much faster. It will never outperform the Rolls Royce; however, the BWM can be put into production much faster than the Rolls Royce can.
Why am I helping with Systems Academy? I have always wondered, "How long does it take to train someone to trade reasonably? " I have found that this answer typically requires working with a small number of individuals and meeting with them weekly to see major improvements. Also, those students must be guided on how to build a trading system and learn how to trust themselves to actually trade it. It is also a fun way for me to get to know other traders on a deeper level and see how I can help them. The reality is time is limited, and I can only do that for so many people. I also expect that Systems Academy will likely not exist in a year or two.
I had one student last year who has been trading for less than two years. He purchased the Brooks Trading Course in October 2023 and joined Systems Academy in March 2024. He has been profitable for the past 6-8 months, trading breakouts and second legs. He is a very disciplined individual, and I personally do not think that the majority of people can accomplish what he has done in the same period of time.
What is Systems Academy's success rate? I believe it is around 40% after the first year. If the student is willing to continue to pursue their trading systematically after the first year, their probability of success will improve. This means that 40% of students who join Systems Academy will be successful after one year.
Why the low success rate: The Standard is high for Systems Academy. We are asking a student to build a system, prove it works with back-tested results, and prove they can actually trade it. Most importantly, prove that they can follow their system. This is a difficult task to expect someone to accomplish in one year. We have had students who have done very well after the two-year mark.
The reality is that most people are not a good fit for Systems Academy. We ask individuals to commit to a full year of building a system and seeing it to the finish line. This requires giving up one's freedom for a more known outcome with their trading results. Most people are simply not willing to do this. I have seen it personally with some students in Systems Academy and also outside of the program.
All in all, you do not need Systems Academy to become a profitable trader. You can absolutely take the Brooks Trading Course material and become a proficient trader. The question will be this: "Can you build a trading plan and actually follow through with it long enough to see a profitable result." This sounds very easy to do, but it is a tricky thing to do. Students join Systems Academy for the structured curriculum of building out their trading systems, which includes the financial design of their system.
Why not give a system and allow Systems Academy Students to use it? The simple answer is that they will not trust the system. I have mentioned several times in the trading room and on my YouTube channel that an easy system to build would be this:
- Three bar microchannel system that is in Leg 1 expecting a 2nd leg up. I challenged people to send me a write-up of this trading system, yet I got little to no responses.
Overall, Systems Academy is a tough program that requires a lot of work. I expect those who join to have spent a good period of time with Brooks Trading Course material and/or have high-achieving accomplishments outside of trading.
Here is a video that might clarify some things: https://youtu.be/CkVLz7f108Q?si=tsT3rqZ-BZpeq-vT
I hope this helps clear up some of your questions.

I'm curious why systems academy won't exist in a year or two?
What do you mean?
Marcus, Ali is working on other projects.
Hi everyone,
I accidentally saw this thread while Googling something else.
For the record, BTC and my one on one work with Dr Brooks both helped me but I was profitable before BTC was even available. In fact, I resigned my six figure full time job to trade for myself before this website was built.
I began teaching out of curiosity about four years ago. At that time I was really interested to know if I can train motivated people to become successful in a shorter period of time than it took me. When some (not all) of my students found success, I had my answer. I have worked with PhDs and people with multiple doctorate degrees who consult for hedge funds and taught them how to develop correct systems.
The content that my team and I developed is valuable and will be used at some point in a corporate setting. It might totally disappear from the Internet.
Right now (mid-Dec 2025) I am developing content for our TWM program, which will probably be the last educational development work I will do. It is taking so much of my time and energy that this year we have not yet offered Systems Academy. I will not open it up until TWM is mostly finished. It has been 80 to 100 hr weeks for months now, to put it into perspective, 25-30 hrs of trading and the rest goes into TWM work.
I am also shutting down the Pro-Trader Mentoring program. It is not worth my time (it has never been), besides I've presented 3 complete cycles of PTM already and there is a rich library of past sessions, 700-800 hrs of videos, that has already helped many become successful. It was fun as an intellectual experiment.
People think a course can make them succeed as a trader. That is not the truth. A good course will help you. It will show you the path, but you are the one walking it. You are the most important element in your success. The better you know yourself, the better the odds you will succeed as a developing trader.
I really enjoy teaching the SA2 program, mostly because of the caliber of people who get admitted. It is a deep intellectual activity full of nice surprises even for me as the teacher. I have found many great friends who were my SA2 students at some point. I can't put a value on the relationships that get developed over the 1 year time frame of SA2, working with students. It is an important part of my professional social life.
On the same note, I am not sure how many more cycles I can or want to do it. I am 56 now and every year that passes by, I find more value for my time. In case you think SA2 is expensive, let me tell you this: Professional traders won't let you into their trading offices. I know of a few that will charge you $10K a day for that privilege, if they like you. Both SA2 and TWM are incredible bargains. I have personally paid $50K in 2010 dollars for not even 10% value of what SA2 offers. Both programs take you behind the scenes and lay everything on the table with absolute brutal honesty. I've found that some people cannot handle that much honesty. They don't see it in themselves being able to be completely honest with themselves and the market. To be a good trader a certain amount of bravery is required. Brave people are first and foremost honest people.
I hope this clears up some of your questions, hearing it from the horse's mouth so to speak. 🙂
Sincerely,
Ali Moin-Afshari
Hi, Mr.Ali, it's Yanjun.
I completely agree with everything you said. In fact, I’ve been giving a lot of thought regarting the nature of learning recently. From the very beginning, when discussing TWM with my friends, I’ve always said that the difficulty of this course doesn't lie in the volume of knowledge or the time commitment, but in having the persistency and resilience.
Most people in my oppinion (including myself a few years ago), aren't looking for genuine learning. Instead, they expect to magically stumble upon a mentor and somehow learn everthing instant with zero real effort.
For me, TWM has provided a deep and new perspective upon understanding of both myself and the market, byy observing your methodology of trading and how you structured this course (which I know is far beyond my imagination). To me, this experience is priceless and I do think TWM worth way way much more than the price. I am truly grateful and feel incredibly lucky to have found this course exactly when I needed it most.
So, for anyone who has any question regarding TWM or SA2, I quote from TWM page, " It is for more advanced serious traders. You know this is right for you, if you are the right candidate. ", and YES, it works.
Hey Brad,
Your description of the program sounds interesting, but 15-20k USD is way, way higher than what I am able to afford. Is financial aid available?
Best regards,
Alexandre.

Hi, Brad
Could you give me a Youtube link about this easy system, I can not find it. I am very interested in it.
very thanks!

Ali also has a free course on his website with the system - https://www.quantsystems.ca/course/intro-course
i would also recommend his BO research which will help tie this all together to a working system
